The Modern Socialite

The term “Socialite” has become confused in the recent past with elitist snobbery or drunken celeb-utants on the covers of tabloids.  When originally coined in New York nearly a century ago, however, it referred to women who knew how to enjoy spending their time and money.  Whether it was having an avant-garde taste in fashion, a scandalous love life or a rebellious social circle, socialites were all about enjoying life.  They didn’t seek fame – these ladies knew how to have a good time and the attention naturally followed.

The Modern Socialite is a throwback to the original, with a twist.  This title is for the independent, ambitious, savvy girl navigating her way around today’s crazy world.  She works hard and plays hard.  She is a rebel, but with a talent for carrying herself with class.  She appreciates the finer things in life like fashion, culture, art, nightlife, and travel while making a contribution to bettering the world around her.

This site is a celebration of the Socialite lifestyle in New York and is dedicated to women of style everywhere.
